Salvador – BA
It was in 2002 that we started activities in Salvador, capital of Bahia, by the hands of educator Maria de Lourdes Silva, with the State Health Secretariat. We found in the Book and Reading department our activity managers in 5 hospitals, having been welcomed as storytellers first by the Roberto Santos General Hospital.
From 2006 to 2012, the Santa Casa de Misericórdia da Bahia took over the project in the city of Salvador. For Santa Casa, our storytellers have become health promoting agents, promoting, through playing and reading, hospital humanization. We offered support and advice so that the Santa Casa Volunteers' action strategies would have a new approach and focus on play and reading.
Since July 2012, our activities have gained a new focus, with the Technical Cooperation Partnership with UNEB - State University of Bahia: we take to future health professionals extension courses that highlight and work the importance of contemporary volunteering and communication between users, employees and health managers, as well as storytelling and playing with the aim of promoting health humanization.
